Restaurant Review. The Priory Hotel in Caerleon. (30 October 2010)
I decide to dine out over the weekend, and The Priory Hotel in Caerleon was reccommended to me by a friend. We were greeted at the door by a smart mature gentleman, who was very polite and welcoming. We had arrived a little early, but the staff were very accommodating and were able to seat us straight away, despite the busy atmosphere. Having never eaten at this restaurant before I was a little confused by the large deli-style bar at the end of the room. The waiter explained that you need to order your food at this counter. On closer inspection we found that there were large chalk boards listing the wide variety of food on offer, which included options for Starters, a Fish Course, a Main Course and Desserts! Displayed in the glass cabinets were the array of beautiful fresh seafood and meat to help you make your choice, which included welsh lamb, steak, prawns, oysters, crayfish, and much more. The staff were very helpful at explaining what was on offer. By ordering your food here you could explain directly to the kitchen staff exactly what you wanted and how you would like it to be cooked. When the food arrived it was nicely presented and delicious. We enjoyed fighting over tasting each others' starters of Thai chicken kebab and seafood salad. Our main meals were just as flavoursome. My lamb was cooked perfectly and the cajun salmon tasted just as good as it smelt. I was extremely excited about them having creme brulee on the dessert listing and enjoyed every morsel of it. The waiting staff were very attentive throughout the meal despite how busy the restaurant was. I was suitably impressed by the whole experience and would reccommend it to friend for a special occassion. I would give it a rating of 8.5 out of 10.

Restaurant Review. Jamie's Italian in Cardiff. (22 April 2010)
I recently dined at Jamie Oliver's Restaurant in Cardiff City not far from the new John Lewis store. I was expecting it to be expensive but was pleasantly surprised that our main course was reasonably priced at £13 for 'Lamb Chop Lollipops' and 'Chicken Under a Brick' was just over £10. Both, I have to say, tasted delicious and well worth every penny. The salsa dressing on the chicken, included olives, which I usually hate with a passion, but it was so tasty I cleared my plate, enjoying every mouthful. The staff were pleasant, attentive and well presented. My only negative thought was the small, all be it, unobtrusive menu style card that was placed on each table advertising Jamie's merchandise which included T-Shirts, Bags, T-Towels etc. I felt that this was totally unnecessary and a bit tacky. I would definitely return and give my eating experience 8 out of 10.

Pub Review. The Butterflies in Bleanavon. (21 March 2010)
Had Sunday lunch here, 5 courses very good value at around £12. It was a simple menu with soup or summer fruits to start, lamb, beef or chicken served with carrots, peas, sprouts, boiled & roasted potatoes, and a choice of gateaux as a sweet, then cheese & biscuits and coffee or tea. It was very well cooked and the service was second to none. The courtyard here is lovely somewhere to sit and enjoy the great efforts they have made with the planting and flower arrangements. I will definitely be visiting again and sampling their evening menu. 8 out of 10.

Pub Review. The Skirrid Mountain Inn. (21 Mar 2009)
I had a night out at The Skirrid Mountain Inn, one of the oldest and most haunted pubs in Britain. I’m not a great believer in the supernatural, so maybe I didn’t really go looking for ghosts and ghouls. Although the atmosphere is a bit unusual, and the hangman’s noose in the stairwell is something you don’t see everyday. The food was good and the hosts were very helpful. I was disappointed in the desert menu, which I suppose is good, as I could probably do with skipping a few deserts. In all I would give The Skirrid Inn 7 out of 10.

Restaurant Review. The Stables View. (13 June 2009)
If you are looking for an evening out with a Welsh flavour, try The Stables View Restaurant Merthyr Tydfil. Most of the food is local produce including the beer, lager and cider. This was my first visit but definitely not my last. The food and service was exceptional and the price was spot on for good quality and taste. You will need to book, as although only recently refurbished it is already very popular. Rating definately 9 out of 10

The Stables View. (22 Nov 2011)
Dined here for my birthday, the food is stunning and the service is better. The staff just can't do enough to make sure you have a great time. They make their own cheese cake here and unfortunately they had sold out on the night and a few of the ladies were disappointed. The owner actually made me a full cheese cake and drove a 22 mile round trip to delivery it to my house, two days after, at no cost. Now that's service. You must try this place for yourself. 10 out of 10.

Chris.
